In this Chapter, we see a disturbance with the staff of Doctor Alan's office, and we go back to the early days when Desmond first recruited Wendy for his experiment... PANCAKES FOR YOU
Fresh, steaming, light and fluffy, Hot from the pan after being cooked just right, Topped with a glistening pat of melted butter And drizzled with cooling strands of sweet maple syrup; I have prepared some delicious pancakes For you. These aren't just any normal run of the mill pancakes you know. My pancakes are so special that once you've eaten them – and you will eat them, Once you have eaten my very special pancakes it will be like a warm glowing ball of wonderful air, Like the breath of an ether drunken angel misting into an exquisite cloud of amber luminescence Within your belly, glowing and rising like a floating high that will make you say Oh! What wonders have these pancakes delivered to me! And how could I have ever lived without them, these transcendent and beautiful pancakes Of the ages... For you see there are some things in life that are not for the majority of mankind to know, But rather for a select few, chosen by... who knows? Providence? Fate? Divine Will? It is not for me to say what constellation of existential forces arrayed For me to choose to share my pancakes with you, Only to say that share them with you I shall My pancakes For you You should also know that many lives were lost in order for you to have these pancakes In fact, whole civilizations rose and fell All in the service of developing the exact, precise, and minutest of ingredients, A combination of tastes and textures and smells and even sounds So vast as to form a fractal replication of the soul That resonates across the reverberations of history... The voices of an infinite choir singing the praises of my holiest of fluffy delicious pancakes Pancakes that are so MMMMM good interweaving through the fabric of time and space And delicately caressing the lips of existence And then gently, whimsically tippy toeing their way Into the stomach of Love And so there you go.
